The unique trip over Southern Baikal

Helicopter flight to the top of Khamar-Daban mountain
Off Road safari at the foothills of Khamar-Daban mountain range and to Mamay mountain. Airboat trip along Sneznaya river with trekking to Grokhotun waterfalls. Cruise along Lake Baikal with the visit to the Circumbaikal railroad.

itinerary:

 Day 1 – Meeting in Irkutsk, transfer to Novosnezhnaya settlement.
  • We meet our guests at the airport. After breakfast at one of the city restaurants we will take a trip by minibus to Novosnezhnaya settlement, located on the southern Baikal shore, where mountain river Snezhnaya flows into Lake Baikal.
  • Upon arrival check in at the hotel Belosnezhka (the Snowhite). Enjoy lunch of Baikal Cuisine. Some spare time to explore the surroundings on your own.
  • Sibearian Banya. Dinner. Walking along the Baikal shore on the sunset. Dinner. Overnight.

Day 2 – Off road safari to Mamay.
  • After breakfast we start our whole day safari on off road cars at the foothills of Khamar-Daban mountain range and to Mamay Mountain with stops in the most picturesque places: Siberian jungles, The Snezhnaya river valley, a unique beach with garnet sand.
  • Lunch on Mamay Mountain – the Mecca of Siberian Freeride.
  • Descend on off road cars to the hotel. Dinnner. Overnight.

Day 3 - Airboat trip over mountain river to Grokhotun waterfall.
  • Today we will undertake an airboat trip along the Snezhnaya river and will go trekking to Grokhotun waterfall, named after the amazing sound (grokhot) made by the falling water.
  • Swimming at the waterfall on your wish. Picnic by the river.
  • In the afternoon return by airboats to the hotel. Dinner.

Day 4 – Cruise over the Lake Baikal to Listvyanka settlement, visit to Circumbaikal railroad.
  • Breakfast. Saying goodbye to the hosts of “Belosnezka” hotel and continue our Baikal journey by boat to Listvyanka. During our small cruising trip we will visit the Circum Baikal railroad, will see the tunnels, openwork bridges and galleries.
  • Upon arrival to Listvyanka we will check in at the hotel and visit the Chersky rock observation platform by a cable car. In the afternoon we will have an excursion to Baikal Ecology museum.
  • Dinner and night in the hotel.

Day 5 – Transfer to Irkutsk airport. farewell.
  • Breakfast. Transfer to the airport.
The Mamai River gorge, located in the southern part of Lake Baikal, in the Khamar-Daban mountain range, is known far beyond the borders of the Irkutsk region and the Republic of Buryatia. It has long become an international tourism cluster. The terrain of this amazing area is considered the most extreme and most suitable for off-piste snowboarding, skiing and snowmobiling. Freeriders, skiers, boarders, and snowmobile riders from all over Russia and abroad flock to the boats during the five-month skiing season. The snow cover allows everyone to enjoy the white sparkling snow from November to March inclusive. Often in November you can observe a snow cover thickness of up to one and a half meters, and by mid-winter it can reach in some places more than 5 meters. Therefore, the valley of the Mamai River gorge is considered the most suitable place for opening the early season. In the gorge of the Mamai River, surrounded by the Khamar-Daban ridges, its own special microclimate has formed. It is characterized by “mild”, comfortable winters (temperatures usually do not drop below 15 degrees) and the absence of strong winds (up to 2 m/s). The terrain for skiing on Mamaia is excellent: sufficient slope, cushions, rolling pins. The most pleasant thing is to ride along the couloirs.
